The Life Story of Lord Buddha — in Sanskrit
Mahāprasthānam, originally written by Madampu Kunjukuttan, has been translated into Sanskrit by Sri Ashokan Puranattukara.
Old age and death… new realizations begin to arise and fill Siddhartha’s inner being. The experiences of decay and mortality become a touchpoint to deeper, hidden truths. The sorrows of the world weigh upon his heart. Beneath the Bodhi tree, Siddhartha transforms into a sheltering presence for the world—he becomes the Buddha.
Lord Siddhartha ceases to belong solely to Yaśodharā. He is no longer confined to his individual self. Instead, he becomes the lord of all living beings. And in that transformation, Yaśodharā too cannot remain unchanged—she, in a sense, becomes one with the Tathāgata, not merely in outer form but in essence.
Transcending the bonds of husband and wife, they rise to a state of unity like Ardhanārīśvara—inseparable, like word and meaning.
Thus continues the journey through the ages.
